I have to say that Chuck Schumer’s days in the Senate are numbered. There’s a feud raging within the Democrat Party. It’s not just young versus old but also progressive leftists versus old school Dems. Senator Chuck Schumer is feeling that pressure right now. His popularity has taken a huge hit since helping pass the GOP spending bill. I covered that here. There's growing talk that he may be primaried in the future by current New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Here’s CNN looking at Schumer’s disastrous polling numbers. (WATCH)
🚨“Big Wake Up Call" — CNN pollster lays out DISASTROUS Democrat polling on Chuck Schumer:
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) April 24, 2025
“AOC’s approval rating among Democrats is considerably higher."
"Sirens should be going off. Primary challenge, primary challenge, primary challenge!" pic.twitter.com/drEJJxmkET
Posters see the AOCs and Jasmine Crocketts of the party making major moves to the forefront while kicking the crusty Schumers to the political curb.
The younger dems seem to be pushing out the dinosaurs.

The party urgently requires fresh leadership, but AOC and similar figures are not the answer.
Not sure there is ANY answer within that party.
They are in all out civil war over the future of the party. Look at the Hogg situation. It’s a real mess.
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) April 24, 2025
Newly elected Vice Chair David Hogg is getting resistance from party veterans like Hakeem Jeffries and Dem consultant James Carville. I covered that butting of heads here and here.
It's doubtful it will happen, but commenters would love to see Schumer debate AOC. I know I would love it.

A debate between AOC and the Grillmaster will make great comedy. Can’t wait.

I don’t think Chuck makes it that far. I think he’ll eventually go the Durbin route.
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) April 24, 2025
A primary election would not only be embarrassing for Schumer, but he would most likely lose it to AOC or any younger contender. Like the poster said he’ll probably opt to retire like Dick Durbin.
If we live in an actual representative democracy he will be canned
— American Archer (@CalenArcher) April 24, 2025
I think he’ll pull a Durbin before this primary rolls around. The question is, does hold on to his Senate leadership spot in the meantime. The Democrat base hates him now.
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) April 24, 2025
Unfortunately everyone hates him a couple decades too late.. but you're right about the Durbin tactic
— American Archer (@CalenArcher) April 24, 2025
One poster says the bad polling numbers are probably not just reserved for Schumer. Other older Dems’ numbers are likely tanking, too.
I think Chuck knows he’s done. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but his days as Senate leader are numbered.
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) April 24, 2025
Note: Among Democrats
— Dangerous Thoughts (@DangerousThinkg) April 24, 2025
overall I would bet they are all low
AOC et al are higher. The base hates the Old Guard leadership. See: Durbin, Dick.
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) April 24, 2025
The Young Turks and The Majority Report - two fairly popular lefty podcasts - DESPISE the Democrat old guard.
— IT Guy (@ITGuy1959) April 24, 2025
Among other things, they blame them for both Trump terms.
There’s a youth movement afoot in the Democrat Party. But don’t count all the old vets out just yet. Power is not easily usurped. Don’t be surprised if the old guard knocks out a few of these young upstarts before they relinquish their hold on the party. Things could get nasty. I know that’s what I’m rooting for. I’ve got some popcorn that needs popping.
