In new ad, WV Democrat Natalie Tennant shuts off power to the White House

Incumbent Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller will retire rather than run for re-election in West Virginia. Natalie Tennant, the Democratic nominee to replace Rockefeller, is facing off against Rep. Shelley Capito, the Republican nominee.

Polls show Capito with a sizable lead.

The state has been becoming more and more red in recent years. In the 2012 presidential election, GOP nominee Mitt Romney carried it 62-36 over President Obama.

Tennant, bowing to political reality, is trying to distance herself from Obama. That may prove to be a tough sell.
