James Garner is probably best known for his work on the long running show “Rockford Files,” but he has a long list of movie and television credits, including the TV series “Maverick” and the 1963 movie “The Great Escape.”
He was a self-described “bleeding-heart liberal” who reportedly won two purple hearts for his service in the Korean War.

He was found dead on Saturday evening by ambulance personnel sent to his Los Angeles home, according to the celebrity news website TMZ, which cited unnamed law enforcement sources.
It said there was no immediate news on the cause or circumstances of his death.
