Media Morons for America is very, very concerned about the gentle sensibilities of the Army private whose legal name is still Bradley Manning. Manning, sentenced to 35 years for leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks, said in a statement last week that he wants to be called Chelsea and hopes to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. Some media outlets, including NPR, have honored Manning’s request. By contrast, CNN and Fox News are sticking with “Bradley” — and this makes MMFA unhappy.
We know it’s fashionable on the Left to let people declare their own gender, but as several Twitter users pointed out, Manning still has male genitals.

Besides the fact he (allegedly) has a penis & a Y chromosome? MT @mmfa: CNN has no excuse for continuing to call Chelsea Manning a man

@mmfa shouldnt it be changed legally first? news orgs shouldnt simply changed a persons name bc they want to rebrand overnight

Seriously, are we worried about offending a convicted traitor? MT @mmfa: CNN has no excuse for continuing to call Chelsea Manning a man

CNN anchor Jake Tapper responded to the criticism of the network’s policy to stick with Manning’s legal name:
@GivMeUrIndieLit i understand your position. if you have an issue with CNN policy, you should take it up with the policy makers.

@janus303 none of these policies are set by individual reporters or anchors. The company sets editorial policy
