Being a conservative Supreme Court Justice takes a lot. It takes a commitment to conservative principles. It takes a profound respect for and understanding of the U.S. Constitution.
And it takes bravery.
Not bravery in the sense that upholding the Constitution should require a willingness to risk your safety and life as a Supreme Court Justice, but rather bravery in the sense that, unfortunately, in this day and age, conservative Supreme Court Justices are, in fact, risking their safety and lives by upholding the Constitutions. Because now they know that there are thugs — both sane and insane — who won't hesitate to confront them at their homes with violent and maybe even murderous intent.
At Twitchy, we unequivocally condemned the angry mobs who showed up at conservative justices' homes. We breathed tremendous sighs of relief when a would-be assassin of Justice Brett Kavanaugh was taken into custody. And that's why it's incumbent upon us now to condemn what former President Donald Trump has tried — fortunately unsuccessfully — to do to former President Barack Obama.
Former President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform what he claimed was the home address of former President Barack Obama on the same day that a man with guns in his van was arrested near the property, federal prosecutors said Wednesday in revealing new details about the case.
Taylor Taranto, 37, who prosecutors say participated in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, kept two firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition inside a van he had driven cross-country and had been living in, according to a Justice Department motion that seeks to keep him behind bars.
On the day of his June 29 arrest, prosecutors said, Taranto reposted a Truth Social post from Trump containing what Trump claimed was Obama’s home address. In a post on Telegram, Taranto wrote: “We got these losers surrounded! See you in hell, Podesta’s and Obama’s.” That’s a reference to John Podesta, the former chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Democratic presidential campaign.
Now, to be clear, I know that Donald Trump isn't the guy who showed up near Obama's property with the intent to kill him ("See you in hell" is a pretty dead giveaway (no pun intended) that you're not interested in just having a conversation, especially when you've got guns and lots of ammo with you in the van you drove across the country in to show up at someone's house). But I find it hard — no, impossible — to believe that Donald Trump didn't know that when he posted the address, one of his crazy supporters might take that as an order to try to kill Obama. You don't just post an address on Twitter (or Truth Social, in this case) without intending for someone who follows you to use that information for something bad. It's why doxxing people is such a serious offense.
Can all we agree that this is really bad? I mean, when the Ruth Sent Us group posted SCOTUS justices' addresses and an armed guy showed up there, that was really bad, right? Any justification here? Anyone?https://t.co/DPdLPkh534 pic.twitter.com/zm9R7LpRAd

There sure as hell shouldn't be anyone out there trying to justify it.
Nah Obama deserves this and more. He was fine with CNN doxxing the guy who made the Trump gif. Reap. Sow

Sorry, but two wrongs don't make a right. It's not only possible, but imperative to be able to condemn bad behavior from one side without defending it for the other side.
I will agree this is really bad. No justification or excuse for this behavior. https://t.co/QSlsk0JgdU

It’s VERY wrong.

There is no valid reason to direct protests to the homes of public officials, & doing so carries an inherently high risk of violence. https://t.co/6HZ9Q9dOQC

They're gonna say anyone can easily find it, but yes, it is still wrong and was clearly done to urge someone unbalanced to do something.
— Nathan Wurtzel (@NathanWurtzel) July 6, 2023
You'd either have to be kidding yourself or trying to kid someone else if you tried to argue otherwise.
This is very bad. Much like the classified documents thing - if it's awful for anyone else to do, it's awful for your preferred politician to do, period https://t.co/KmzhZiakQR

Doxxing (properly defined) is always either evil or negligent.
— TarienCole (@TarienCole) July 6, 2023
This looks like doxxing, so yes. It's wrong. Now, I'm a plague on both their parties guy. So it might be easier for me to say that.
Both are equally heinous.
— MadCityMike 🇺🇦 (@MikeAdamsWI) July 6, 2023
I have no problem saying both are really, really bad. https://t.co/RAaX8II1Nq
— Biscuit Salad (@BiscuitSalad) July 6, 2023
By the way, while both are equally wrong, Trump's position of authority, influence and reach makes his action far more egregious. To whom much is given much is required.
— Jeryl Bier (@JerylBier) July 6, 2023
Both are wrong but a former POTUS publishing another’s address for hopes of violence is something I never thought I’d see. Trump is mentally unstable and unfit for office.

All that said, I think this tweeter makes a really interesting and valuable point:
This is fair. Not giving cover to Trump but noting the hypocrisy of how both are spun by the mostly liberal media. How I long for a consistent right and wrong approach. https://t.co/QSssOAQJYO

Reverse the party affiliations for Donald Trump and Barack Obama, and I'd lay down good money that the AP — or just about any other legacy MSM outlet — wouldn't raise more than an eyebrow.
In any event:
No. This is all garbage. We need to be more proactive. https://t.co/rADUihZg4F

Enough is enough is enough. One of these days, someone really is going to get killed.
