I apologize for missing this MSNBC segment earlier this week. Maybe I was too busy trying to stay on top of Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents and the White House’s subsequent efforts to either bury it or outright defend it. Covering that is in and of itself a full-time job.
But I’m here now, so let’s talk about this spectacle. This past Monday, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace had a very thoughtful discussion with MSNBC political contributor and Morgan State School of Global Journalism and Communication Prof. Jason Johnson about voter ID laws and voter suppression. And when I say “very thoughtful,” I mean “painfully illogical stupid.”
Watch for yourselves:
MSNBC's @DrJasonJohnson: "There’s a certain segment of white people in America who would rather have their own lives inconvenienced [w/ voter ID rules], than run the risk of black people being on an equal plane." pic.twitter.com/0u3ixMhPFD

Now, before you go banging your head against the wall, just remember that you shouldn’t be punishing yourself for listening to that. I asked you to listen to it, and it’s also important that you know it exists because you need to know what sort of insanity sane people are regularly up against.

And make no mistake: Jason Johnson is insane. So is Nicolle Wallace, for that matter, just brainlessly agreeing with Johnson’s dumb comments.
Wut?

We all know that basically nobody actually watches MSNBC anyway, but the network does have a handful of viewers. Do any of those viewers take issue with the fact that Johnson’s take doesn’t make any sense? Have they completely lost the ability to discern between things that are logical and things that are not?

"That white guy only shot himself in the face to take a hospital bed that could've gone to a black person." That's how much sense this makes. https://t.co/mypDgCjEou

Guess it makes just about as much sense as anything you’ll see on MSNBC.
Are we still pretending black people cant or don’t know how to get IDs?
— Todd Peterson (@Todd_Peterson_1) January 17, 2023
So we are back to assuming black folks aren’t capable of getting ID?
— Wally (@Wally389) January 17, 2023
We’re not … but MSNBC is.
Black man calls black people too stupid to get an ID to vote. White woman agrees black people are too stupid to get an ID to vote too. https://t.co/TILsruPPzQ

It’s amazing how dumb they like to make black people out to be https://t.co/TJVwq4sXGm

Hey thanks for the racism, there Dr J

Well, it’s important to remember that MSNBC loves them some racism, too.
