When the news broke that Elon Musk was actually maybe going to actually end up owning Twitter after all, all hell broke loose. Well, not all hell … just a lot of liberal hell. If Elon Musk were to take over, Twitter could become like a dictatorship. Rules could be capricious and arbitrary and capriciously and arbitrarily enforced, and conservative/Republican/right-wing political opinions could be allowed to flourish while liberals/Democrats/left-wingers could no longer enjoy immunity from punishment. Oh, the humanity!
Musk hasn’t taken over Twitter just yet, but he’s got some people very concerned that he’s already doing dictator-y things. Why, just today, the fine folks at Public Citizen called him out for cracking down on free speech:
Is this your “free speech” king?? pic.twitter.com/GMxarBgCIc

Actually, is free speech. Which is exactly what we told Public Citizen this past April when they tried to pull the same BS:
FYI: We’re blocked by Elon Musk.
So much for being “committed” to free speech. pic.twitter.com/iXsMQYq8v0

All these months later, choosing to block someone on Twitter is still not a violation of the blockee’s free speech.

For the millionth time, blocking or being blocked doesn’t mean your free speech is being infringed. Yes, even if Elon does it. https://t.co/w9Q0TdUMFq

It really shouldn’t be that difficult to understand.
Anyhoo, if liberal Twitter users are freaking out about life under Elon Musk, just imagine how liberal Twitter employees must be feeling.
Surprise! They’re reportedly very upset:
"virtually every Twitter employee I’ve spoken to in the last six months has told me that he or she plans to leave if Mr. Musk takes over" https://t.co/cytghPTaWi

Awww.
So they're bailing because they know Twitter won't remain hard left and they'll get in trouble for doing what they do now.

So, are they actually for realsies going to leave if Musk takes over?
(I'd bet against a significant exodus for a bunch of reasons including that this isn't a great time to quit a really comfy / well compensated tech job, but we won't have to wait long to find out!)
— Tom Gara (@tomgara) October 5, 2022
Yeah, we’ll have to wait and see if they actually make good on their promise (if Musk does become their boss). It’s entirely possible that they’re just trying to sound stunning and brave and have no intention of actually going anywhere.
But we can always hope!

You say this as though it's a bad thing.

Looking forward to hearing some downsides

For us, too. Because the people who have been in charge of Twitter have really, really sucked at it.
