Kudos to David Hogg for finding a way to parlay a genuinely terrifying and traumatic experience into a budding career as an activist. Seriously. It takes a certain degree of imagination and commitment and social savvy to do something like that.
Unfortunately for David Hogg, he’s the annoying kind of activist. The kind of activist who uses a lot of words and spouts a lot of “facts” that are ultimately meaningless, if not outright false.
And now, he’s apparently getting an award for it:
I am happy to announce this weekend I will be receiving the Mahatma Gandhi Center National Nonviolence award at James Madison University. The inaugural winner of this award was civil rights activist John Lewis. I am incredibly humbled to be receiving it.

We’d be humbled, too, if we were him. It’s not every day you get an award for doing something you haven’t actually done. This puts him in Barack Obama territory. Humbling, indeed.

David Hogg is a history major at Harvard University, which, despite the fact that it admitted David Hogg, is still considered one of the most prestigious universities in the country. But how could the history professors of Harvard let David down so much by not informing him that one of America’s Founding Fathers and perhaps most important Framer James Madison was a big Second Amendment guy?
