NPR suggests that 'environmentalists helped lead the push' to make nuclear power great again

In case you’ve missed it, green energy or clean energy — whatever you want to call it — is neither all that green nor all that clean. We could just knock you over with a feather right now, couldn’t we?

Well, if solar and wind energy aren’t the answer to all our problems, then what is? Is it time for a second look at nuclear power?

Actually, yes. It’s been time for a second look at nuclear power for ages. And if you believe NPR, we have the environmentalist movement to thank for renewed interest in this actually clean form of clean energy. No, really. That’s what they’re claiming:

The article cites Michael Shellenberger as an environmentalist who supports nuclear energy. And that’s fine, but it’s pretty disingenuous to not mention that he’s a pro-nuclear environmentalist who turned away from progressivism in no small part due to climate change alarmism and radical environmentalism. Shellenberger cares about the environment, but he’s not a complete ass about it. His approach to environmental issues is based on reason and rooted in reality. That’s not something that can be said about the environmentalism movement as a whole.

But NPR’s still trying to say it.

C’mon, NPR. You can’t possibly think I’d buy this, can you? You can’t possibly think that anyone would buy this.

You can’t suggest that environmentalists helped lead the push toward nuclear energy just because they’re trying to skip to the front of the line now. That’s not how this works.

If nuclear power enjoys a resurgence in popularity, don’t credit the “renewable energy only” activists; credit people like Michael Shellenberger who actually know what they’re talking about and can put their money where their mouths are.
