“No more mean tweets!” they cried when Donald Trump was booted from Twitter and defeated by Joe Biden for the presidency. No more divisiveness! No more pettiness! No more incivility! No more threats! It’s all uphill from here!
Well, Joe Biden has only been president for a little over a year and a half, and I don’t know about you guys, but in that relatively short amount of time, I’ve seen him stoop to some pretty low lows. And his lows are arguably much worse than Donald Trump’s, because at least Trump was always upfront. With Donald Trump, you knew exactly what you were getting. But Joe Biden promised to be different. Better. And he’s demonstrated that he’s more than willing to get way down into the gutter.
As Brett told you yesterday, the official White House Twitter account decided that it would be a valuable use of their time and an all-around great idea to do a whole thread devoted to shaming Republican members of Congress who had taken PPP loans that were ultimately forgiven.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven.https://t.co/4FoCymt8TB

It’s disgusting on a number of levels. And in his own thread, Twitchy staple @politicalmath — whom you should definitely be following if you’re not already — touched on all of them:
I'm trying to avoid the White House tweet b/c it is legitimately the most stomach turning thing I've seen in modern politics
The WH is attacking people who chose to cooperate w/ gov't to keep their employees paid & the entire left is dancing with glee over it

I personally had no trouble complaining about Trump acting like a jackass or telling him to shut up (not that he cared what little old me thought about him). That’s why I also feel quite comfortable complaining about Biden acting like a jackass and telling him to shut up. Sometimes a jackass is a just a jackass and that jackass needs to shut up.
But back to the thread:
In a moment of national emergency, hundreds of thousands of business were forced to close & the gov't couldn't possibly administer unemployment on that scale with that speed
So the gov't said "don't fire everyone, here's some money as long as you use it for payroll"
— PoliMath (@politicalmath) August 26, 2022
And hundreds of thousands of businesses said "ok, we will help you administer this money"
A "forgiven" loan means that these people did the right thing. They did exactly what they were asked to do in a time of public emergency.
So let's humiliate them, mock them, sneer at them

It’s as though anyone who took a PPP loan was unwittingly putting themselves on a hit list for the Biden administration to use it against them in the future. Even diehard liberals who loathe the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz should be incredibly disturbed about this. Would they be so gleeful if the Trump White House had done this to Democratic politicians (which they notably did not)? Or if they’d had it done to them?
I am keeping score. Anyone who engages in this disgusting behavior will never again get to claim any compassionate ground for any policy.
The only reason they ever do it is as an emotional lever against genuinely kind people. They themselves are filled with hatred and cruelty.

The federal government has been used as a weapon against Republicans and conservatives before. This won’t be the last time it happens. Are there any sane liberals out there willing to stand up to say that enough is enough?
