If someone could explain to us why China is hosting the Winter Olympics and why anyone thinks we need to be nice to the ChiComs, that’d be swell.
Because right now, we can’t for the life of us figure out why we should give the benefit of any doubt to a country that does stuff like this:
Onze correspondent @sjoerddendaas werd om 12.00u live in het NOS Journaal door beveiligers voor de camera weggetrokken. Helaas is dit steeds vaker de dagelijkse realiteit voor journalisten in China. Hij is in orde en kon zijn verhaal gelukkig een paar minuten later afmaken pic.twitter.com/GLTZRlZV96

About 2 hours ago the China reporter @sjoerddendaas for the Dutch public broadcaster @NOS is pulled away while live on the Dutch national news close to the Beijing National Stadium! #Beijing2022WinterOlympics #Beijing2022 @DrewPavlou @BaldingsWorld @benedictrogers @joshrogin https://t.co/bQe3izoRJA pic.twitter.com/XoQTpZFUI2

Why are we giving China any time, attention, or money?
You’re damn right it is.
When you think of the Beijing Olympics, remember it's "TOGETHER FOR a shared future," unless you're this journalist who was just dragged away by commie goons. https://t.co/C8PYLap1ha

What needs to happen for firefighters like Brian Stelter to speak up? What is forcibly dragging a reporter away, if not an attack on free speech? Is it not evidence that it’s a dangerous time to tell the truth in China?
hope he is still safe https://t.co/K77scmqe4e

“Our correspondent @sjoerddendaas was pulled away from the camera by security guards at 12:00 live in the NOS Journaal. Unfortunately, this is increasingly becoming a daily reality for journalists in China. He is fine & was able to finish his story a few minutes later." #Olympics https://t.co/qONe014p67

So he was lucky this time.
Its just a matter of time before someone gets beaten up live on air.

Sad but true.
Don't watch the Olympics. https://t.co/fGUScgei29

Best of luck to our Olympians, but we can’t support this. We just can’t.
I'm not watching this debacle. Wishing the US athletes luck, but they're going to have to win without our participation. We shouldn't have gone. #BoycottBeijing2022 https://t.co/vgDOZIjy5R
