Former Democratic U.S. Senator Harry Reid passed away yesterday.
BREAKING: Harry Reid, probably the most important elected official in Nevada history, has died at 82.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Harry Reid did some terrible things as a U.S. Senator — and even boasted about many of them — but he was still a human being who had a family that now misses him terribly, so we won’t speak ill of the dead.
That doesn’t mean, however, that we need to ignore his legacy.
Harry Reid fundamentally & permanently altered the Senate, created America's current political landscape, paved the way for Donald Trump, & made it possible to put Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, & Barrett on the Supreme Court. https://t.co/Lfk3nLk4A8

For what it’s worth, Ezra Klein thinks that the best way to honor Harry Reid is to nuke the filibuster:
Harry Reid. What a legacy. And the simplest way to honor him is to listen to him. https://t.co/I7hcf61MSI

Because it worked out so well the first time!
We did listen. We got Gorsuch, Kavenaugh, and Amy

I mean, we kinda did listen to him. That's how we got Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett… https://t.co/sGUo2z2NNd

LOL. He will always be remembered for giving away the SCOTUS. https://t.co/BdOGvFg8r1

We’re certainly not going to complain about Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. But it’s telling that Ezra has apparently learned nothing from the whole experience. At least he’s in some very illustrious company:
Reid knew that the filibuster is the biggest, and most easily changed, institutional obstacle to effective federal governance in America. https://t.co/7T8i53E5ol

Whatever you say, buddy.
we are not “honoring harry reid” by destroying the filibuster because you hate republicans. christ almighty. https://t.co/r45UkDXc0H

All guys like Ezra Klein and Noah Smith are doing is begging to be punished even harder.
It's like Klein's brain is incapable of conceiving that Reid's decision to weaken the filibuster for nominations had any adverse consequences. https://t.co/w3xfrS0OkY

Progressives still haven't begun to understand that the other side wins elections too, and that maybe it's in their interest to be able to slow down the other side when they're in the minority in the Senate. https://t.co/XTIlnMDmJ4
