Earlier this week, Utah GOP Rep. Burgess Owens blasted disingenuous politicians like Georgia Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock who have shamefully likened voter ID laws to Jim Crow laws:
.@BurgessOwens—who grew up during the Jim Crow era—sets the record straight on voter ID.
"Any comparison between this law and Jim Crow is absolutely outrageous."

Owens was absolutely right to be disgusted. But just because he’s disgusted by the “Jim Crow” narrative doesn’t mean he can’t also be mildly amused by its utter asininity:
My parents lives sure would have been a lot easier if Jim Crow laws just meant they had to show ID to vote.

Not everyone agrees, of course:
Wow.
That’s tasteless. Even for you.— _left_is_right, B.B.A. (@left_is_right__) April 21, 2021
Shame on you, Burgess. Shame you you …..

Translation: "Look. The type of voter suppression we're proposing isn't as bad as the type of voter suppression we used to have. So you should be happy it's not worse."

Burgess, quit lying to yourself and everyone else.

The GOPQ'S poster boy, Burgess Owens.

When you’re being retweeted by a racist like @mattgaetz, Mr. Owens, you might take some time to reconsider your reasoning.

Get it? Because Uncle Tom.
What a time to be alive, when voter ID laws are racist, but calling a black Republican a race traitor is just fine.
