Earlier today, the Daily Beast’s Lachlan Markay reported that some legislators have been using the Georgia special elections to fundraise for their own campaigns:
Members of Congress are using the Senate runoffs in Georgia to raise money for their own campaigns, boosted recently by Facebook's decision to lift its ad ban in GA https://t.co/YZL0KmZ5eb
— Lachlan Markay (@lachlan) December 30, 2020
Some aren't even bothering to mention the runoffs. Rep-elect Madison Cawthorn, for instance, is running FB fundraising ads pledging to help overturn the 2020 election. But he's running them only in GA, effectively exploiting a loophole in FB's ad policy https://t.co/YZL0KmZ5eb

It seems fair enough to ponder the ethics of that.
Unless you’re, say, the Lincoln Project.
And yet, the Lincoln Project is appalled and outraged:
#PonziScheme … how is this legal? https://t.co/DZOYqRdAQr
— The Lincoln Project (@ProjectLincoln) December 30, 2020
OK, so first of all:
Even if true (and I’m not saying it is or isn’t), literally *not* a Ponzi Scheme.

And second of all, has the Lincoln Project met the Lincoln Project?
The Lincoln Project raised $4.8 million between November 24th and December 16th hyping the Georgia Senate runoff elections.
Since then, it has spent $1.1 million on independent expenditures in those races and paid Steve Schmidt $1.5 million. https://t.co/BT5roJBmCt pic.twitter.com/mCS1B7wsxF

Guess the Lincoln Project doesn’t put Principles First after all.

This is the kind of product you get for $1.5 million a quarter.

Money well spent!
Grifter alert ? https://t.co/vkbOwT03lr

Honestly one of the most impressive grifts we've ever seen https://t.co/IpF3GBDemT
— Greg Price (@greg_price11) December 30, 2020
gotta respect the success of the grift https://t.co/cPIsEpEn3h
— Ben McDonald (@Bmac0507) December 30, 2020
They should travel around the country and hold training seminars for this stuff. And charge a lot for it, of course.
What do you say to this @SteveSchmidtSES?
— Derek Andrew Franks #WearAMask (@Derek_a_Franks) December 30, 2020
Damn. Any comment from @ProjectLincoln @SteveSchmidtSES ? Curious what hear their response to being fingered for the type of grifting they consistently complain about.
