You know what’s always a great idea? Invoking slavery to make a dumb political point.
And Lawrence O’Donnell is nothing if not full of great ideas.
So let’s hear it for Lawrence O’Donnell, everybody:
Biden is going to win millions more votes than Trump. Millions.
No one doubts that, not even Trump.
The only reason there’s suspense is the thing that doesn’t exist in any other democracy—Electoral College.
The Electoral College is slavery’s revenge on the 21st century.

So weird that Lawrence has a reputation for being a complete tool.
But you wouldn't be saying that if Biden won the election and Electoral College, too. https://t.co/fhtvQuh5ak

Of course he wouldn’t. Because the Electoral College is only bad if a Republican wins.
And yet if Biden wins, we will not hear a single criticism or sustained passion against the Electoral College because they’re mere opportunists. Same if Hillary had won in 2016. Only when the result isn’t the one they wanted do they suddenly become impassioned EC Abolitionists. https://t.co/QUURYLQQDj

Yep.
Besides the whole destroying our federal republic thing, imagine how boring Election Day would be if we swapped all of the 270-to-Win maps with a simple announcement of who New York City has chosen to be the new president. https://t.co/NMegE6L0ju

Lawrence essentially wants him and his friends — assuming he has any — to pick the president for the rest of us.
This is special dumb https://t.co/T5gqWcLK3S

Indeed:
The Electoral College was most fulsomely defended, in Federalist 68, by Alexander Hamilton – not at all a supporter of slaveryhttps://t.co/1lbQDilPAS https://t.co/qNx7DuRFa5

of course Hamilton was arguing pretty strongly against the direct popular election of Presidents, so the liberals tend to overlook this one from their musical fav

If we may offer Lawrence and Co. a parting suggestion:
That’s good advice. Lawrence should take it.
