We thought Evan McMullin was still pretty busy not paying his vendors, but it turns out he’s capable of multitasking.
Last night, he poked his head in on Twitter to remind us that the COVID19 crisis in America would be so much less crisis-y if we weren’t, you know, America.
See, we really dropped the ball when we failed to be New Zealand:
New Zealand's handling of this pandemic really is "a triumph of science and leadership." When the nation detected its first 100 cases, it immediately established strict stay at home measures, which have thus far saved the lives of all but one New Zealander.https://t.co/Y2FdXfhCuL

Who wants to tell him?
It shut its borders to foreigners March 19, lockdown March 21. We should have shut our borders earlier, but NZ's isolated location gave it the luxury of deciding that long after it was too late most everywhere else. https://t.co/9WJmnVc1V1

It’s also an Island.

Technically more than one island, but yeah. Just look at a globe and you can see why it's not like the US, France, or Iran. It's surrounded by the mother of all moats.

New Zealand is some islands away from everything.

We have several cities with more people than her entire country. Apples and oranges.

Who would of guessed a small island nation w/ natural borders, not even 5 million people and a relatively low amount of international flights would be able to contain a pandemic. Real brilliant stuff here.

New Zealand has a population of less than 5 million people.
They are already separated from the rest of the word by thousands of miles of ocean.
A "triumph of science" is a bit of an over statement.

Just a bit.
Priorities, Evan.
