As Twitchy told you earlier, AOC argued for D.C. statehood yesterday by pointing out that “D.C. was the 1st territory in the United States to free the enslaved.”
DC was the 1st territory in the United States to free the enslaved.
It’s where Black Americans fled the tyranny of slavery & towards greater freedom, to DC. Yet today it’s where 2nd class citizenship reigns, and the right to vote is denied.
It’s time to recognize DC statehood. https://t.co/AkfaRHw38C

Unfortunately for AOC, as usual, she had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. And, as usual, she’s now blaming “the right” for the fact that she’s a moron.
This is my favorite AOC move. When she’s wrong, she follows up with an explainer on how she was wrong, while pretending she was right https://t.co/AoxcewnX43

Deleted, it seems
— Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) September 20, 2019
She indeed deleted her tweet. Here it is, in case you missed it:
— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) September 20, 2019
But lest you think she deleted it because she was ashamed of being wrong, she only did it to correct “Compensation” to “Compensated.” Here’s the new one:
The right is pushing back on this. To clarify in 280 chars, DC was the first area where enslaved people were freed by the US government.
It was enacted by the Compensated Emancipation Act of 1862. https://t.co/plbSr7WCkw

Still blaming “the right” for her problems. Still not understanding anything.
To clarify… you’re a dumbass https://t.co/ysZq8KDd94

I’m not on the right. Your original tweet was inaccurate
— t m (@tm90388634) September 20, 2019
Inaccurate and self-defeating.
She also sorta argued against herself. In her first post she said it was the first territory in the US to free slaves. In her 2nd post she "clarifies" to say it was the first time the US govt (meaning the Federal govt) freed slaves….It is not really a clarification so much
— David Nathanael Ryan (@DavidNathanaelx) September 20, 2019
Wouldn't this be an argument against making it a state, and remaining under the sole jurisdiction of the federal government?
— Adam (@AdamHardesty) September 20, 2019
Wow, so in other words she’s simultaneously celebrating and chastising Congress’s constitutional mandate to govern D.C.
— Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) September 20, 2019
LULZ. Yeah.
— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) September 20, 2019
Yep! Sounds like our gal!
(Certain localities and municipalities did pursue abolition earlier, but none were federally recognized.)
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) September 20, 2019
Just stop, honey.
Why is it that most socialists and commies failed civics? Why do they always forget that States rights exist?
You were still wrong, and this explanation doesnt make you right https://t.co/tx6z6mdcBc
— Bob Malak (@bob_malak) September 20, 2019
You may want to just admit you were wrong, or you can grab a shovel and keep digging
— Winston Niles Rumfoord (@RumfoordNiles) September 20, 2019
Might it be better for you to stop all the 'clarifications' and just take a few minutes and read a history book?
— Scott (@ScottC20012) September 20, 2019
It would definitely be better for her. Which is why she won’t do it.
