Joe Biden’s still in hot water today after footage was released of him telling Iowans that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.” Despite the fact that his campaign’s trying to shift the blame onto Donald Trump, Uncle Joe’s gonna have a tough time talking his way out of this one.
But that doesn’t mean he won’t have a little help. Take Jonathan Chait, for example. He’s doing what he can to downplay the backlash against Biden by suggesting that most of Biden’s critics today are “just pretending to be angry”:
Are people really angry at Biden for mangling his words when trying to say poor black kids are as bright as rich white ones? Or just pretending to be angry?

"How could anybody genuinely disagree with me?" Never change, Jonathan. https://t.co/KuFR6ayxgA

For what it’s worth, CNBC firefighter John Harwood says it’s all just for show:
pretending

Huh.

Are Chait and Harwood just pretending that if Donald Trump had said what Joe Biden said, they wouldn’t be foaming at the mouth?
They would know. They invented this tactic. pic.twitter.com/DJtKuPtkhF

If Chait and Harwood want to stay out of the emotional partisan fray, that’s fine. But they can’t do so selectively. Either they’re all in or all out. They can’t cherry-pick depending on the letter after the politician’s name.
“Pretending” to be angry. Like you do when Trump says something.

If you think we’re pretending to be angry that Joe Biden’s RACISM was on full display again then you folks might want to check your own white male privilege
You continue to show us how out of touch you are.
