You know, for a platform with “a major pro-conservative bias,” Twitter sure does seem to have a problem with conservatives. Aside from suspending conservatives’ accounts for dubious reasons, Twitter also apparently likes to prevent users from following external links posted on conservatives’ accounts.
Republican Indiana State Sen. Jim Merritt is running for mayor in Indianapolis. His campaign website, merrittforindy.com, is posted under his Twitter bios for both his @Jim_Merritt and @MerrittForMayor accounts. Since today is Election Day, people who visit his Twitter pages might be interested in learning more about him. But Twitter seems to have other ideas:
So Jim Merritt (@MerrittForMayor / @Jim_Merritt) is on the ballot today — running for mayor of Indianapolis. When I click the link for the campaign website on either account I get this warning? Seems not ideal on Election Day.
What gives, @twitter? pic.twitter.com/6J7TAELSwY

We checked, and sure enough, we got the same result:
We visited Merritt’s campaign site (not through Twitter, of course) and we didn’t see anything that looked “unsafe.”
As a follow up, I originally tried to include the link to @MerrittForMayor's website in the first tweet… but @Twitter wouldn't let me do that either. pic.twitter.com/o2lbvEvZBu

Something seems less than kosher.
We’ve been looking into it from our end.
