As Twitchy told you yesterday, Jussie Smollett’s lawyer Tina Glandian said that his legal team hasn’t yet ruled out a future lawsuit. But if you thought that was chutzpah, wait’ll you get a load of this:
Jussie Smollett's attorney Patricia Brown Holmes has released a new statement tonight. This thread will include direct quotes:
— Rob Elgas (@RobElgasABC7) March 28, 2019
“We are disappointed the local authorities have continued their campaign against Jussie Smollett after the charges against him have been dropped. The facts are clear. The Assistant State’s Attorney appeared in court and dismissed the charges."
— Rob Elgas (@RobElgasABC7) March 28, 2019
And “inadvertently sealed” Smollett’s court file.
"Mr. Smollett forfeited his bond. The case is closed. No public official has the right to violate Mr. Smollett’s due process rights."
— Rob Elgas (@RobElgasABC7) March 28, 2019
"Mr. Smollett, like every citizen, is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Mr. Smollett is entitled to the same Constitutional protections as any citizen charged by the government with a crime…"
— Rob Elgas (@RobElgasABC7) March 28, 2019
Well, he’s apparently not going to have the opportunity to be proven guilty in a court of law, because the SAO decided to drop all charges against him in exchange for … 16 hours of pre-emptive community service with Rainbow PUSH.
"…including the right to speak freely about his innocence, the right to be viewed as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and the right to hold the State to its burden of proving him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. None of that has occurred in this case."
— Rob Elgas (@RobElgasABC7) March 28, 2019
The only thing that hasn’t occurred in this case is justice.

Are you kidding!?!?! Crazy man. Giant cajones.
— rikhowell (@rikhowell) March 28, 2019
That’s rich, really rich.
— Lisa (@kittywhisperer7) March 28, 2019
Almost as rich as Jussie Smollett himself.
Did he get due process? Seems like if I did the exact same thing I’d be behind bars for the maximum amount of time. #noequaljustice pic.twitter.com/GzchnjNLVn

Smollett committed a crime – hoaxing and hate mongering, and they're saying no public official has the right to violate Smollet's due process rights? Does that right include erasing his police record as if it never existed?
— Virginia S. Saunders (@fearlesswidow) March 28, 2019
His due process rights? Im sorry Id need to know specifically how often this kind of deal is offered to those arrested in Chicago before Id say its due process. Im sure this can be counted by fingers. This was Hollywood Political Privilege.
— Sheila (@SHGator95) March 28, 2019
He doesn’t need due process.. he just got the celebrity special treatment. The people who actually get prosecuted need due process.
— Rampage Rich (@RichBeeker) March 28, 2019
Exactly.
So Smollett isn't satisfied with escaping prosecution for his crimes and is now not only demanding everyone acknowledge he told the truth and was a victim of a hate crime, but also wants a public apology from the Chicago police for 'smearing' him with their investigation.
