Is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a pathological liar or just a flaming moron? We report, you decide.
Earlier today, she tweeted this as evidence of the GOP’s unwillingness to work on voting reform:
Democrats took a 1st step to fix the massive, foundational issue of voting reform & money in politics.#HR1 For the People Act by @RepSarbanes was cosponsored by 227 members&passed the House.
Now it’s at the Senate. GOP is calling getting money out of politics a “power grab.” https://t.co/ruzqcN1MgZ

Just one little problem with that:
Uhhhhh, H.R. 1 hasn't passed the House. pic.twitter.com/FQD38QtCTh

Nope.
So, when you say "passed the House…"
"Latest Action: House – 01/29/2019 Committee Hearings Held"

We’re no geniuses like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but we’re pretty sure that “committee hearings held” is not the same thing as “passed the House.”
I foresee more conservative pouncing on a factually challenged lady from 718. https://t.co/iNLFBbJtZc

Well, after a few hours of conservatives pouncing — more than enough time to score a buttload of likes and retweets — AOC is clarifying:
Quick Correction: intro’d House instead of passed (yet!)
Senate GOP still speaking out against it
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) February 11, 2019
Just a “quick correction,” you guys. No biggie.
Quick correction: my original tweet was completely wrong pic.twitter.com/6NPjGvaVQN

Oops?
I should note that HR 1 is currently before AOC's committee and is the bill she did that little song and dance about last week, so it's genuinely baffling how she managed to think it passed the House
— Alex Griswold (@HashtagGriswold) February 11, 2019
She really should know better, but in fairness, she’s an idiot, so … yeah.
She Guevara still working on difference between proposing legislation and passing it https://t.co/6xagLAxdnM
— Orange Muppet Energy (@sunnyright) February 11, 2019
She’ll get it one of these days!
It hasn't passed the House. It hasn't even gotten out of committee.
This is what I'm talking about when I say Ocasio-Cortez has a legitimate disorder in which truth is whatever she needs it to be at the moment. https://t.co/7BmFMCynLr

Hey, as long as it’s morally right, it’s fine.
Speaking truth to power — making what we all assumed was too difficult to grasp easy to understand. Showing that big ideas & common-sense reforms can happen, and they begin with a simple explanation of the problem – thank you!
— Joe (@JATnLA) February 11, 2019
So, “speaking truth to power” now means “using your position to spread blatantly false claims in order to smear your political opponents.” Well, at least she knows the Washington Post Fact Checker won’t call her out on it!
Just a kerfuffle. https://t.co/nHjmFNUvMU
