In case you missed it, a seven-year-old migrant girl has died after being taken into Border Patrol custody:
7-year-old migrant girl taken into Border Patrol custody dies of dehydration, exhaustion https://t.co/Vb599XHO5I

More from the Washington Post:
According to CBP records, the girl and her father were taken into custody about 10 p.m. Dec. 6 south of Lordsburg, N.M., as part of a group of 163 people who approached U.S. agents to turn themselves in.
More than eight hours later, the child began having seizures at 6:25 a.m., CBP records show. Emergency responders, who arrived soon after, measured her body temperature at 105.7 degrees, and according to a statement from CBP, she “reportedly had not eaten or consumed water for several days.”
After a helicopter flight to Providence Children’s Hospital in El Paso, the child went into cardiac arrest and “was revived,” according to the agency. “However, the child did not recover and died at the hospital less than 24 hours after being transported,” CBP said.
Her story is heartbreaking. Naturally, the Left is trying to use her death to point to the cruelty and inhumanity of our policies regarding illegal immigration.
The media got the ball rolling:
A 7-year old Guatemalan girl has died in US Customs and Border Protection custody, a source with the agency told CNN.

Tonight, I arrived in TX to inspect government facilities where families with children are being imprisoned. When I landed, I learned that a 7 year-old has died.
Will be on @CNN @NewDay at 4:15amPT/7:15amET to talk about these horrific policies & what we must do to push back.

We cannot give more money to agencies that allow children to die in their custody. A 7 year old child died of dehydration in @CBP custody. We demand an investigation immediately. https://t.co/gQre3cmdk2

I am heartbroken by this news, and my prayers are with the girl’s family. America is better than this, and we must ensure this can never happen again. https://t.co/ZWNM18Xr5d

I am deeply saddened by this girl’s death. There must be a complete investigation and the results shared with Congress and the public. https://t.co/3ja8CZ6rlG

I grew up in a Matthew 25 family. My parents taught us that if someone is hungry, you feed them. If a stranger needs shelter, you welcome them into your home. This is devastating. She deserved better. We must fight to ensure this never happens again. https://t.co/OgieLWhwK9

Horrifying. She should never have been put in a detention center. She never should have been neglected once taken into custody. Her death is on this administration’s hands.
Just that this is why we can’t stop resisting. This is why we have to march.https://t.co/oaPr467zO1

This 7-year-old girl deserved so much better. https://t.co/2LD5Dnojr9
— The Democrats (@TheDemocrats) December 14, 2018
She did deserve better — from her own father. Because based on the information that’s out there, he bears a great deal of the responsibility.
Kirstjen Nielsen blamed the death of a 7-year-old migrant girl in U.S. custody on her family https://t.co/cpJUdHqkor

FOX & FRIENDS: What do you know about the 7-year-old girl who died in Border Patrol custody?@SecNielsen: "This is just a very sad example of the dangers of this journey. This family chose to cross illegally… I cannot stress [enough] how dangerous this journey is." pic.twitter.com/bjFMdFlW3E

Shameless. Secretary Nielsen should resign, now. https://t.co/ViyhhbA48Z
— Senator Dick Durbin (@SenatorDurbin) December 14, 2018
We’re supposed to be outraged at Nielsen for that remark, but based on what we know, she’s right.
Nielsen is right. The girl reportedly was starved and dehydrated for days prior to being taken into custody and she couldn’t be saved. The false and misleading reporting of this story is partly why so many of us hate and distrust the media. This, right here. https://t.co/XmWv1tVdb8
— Ken Gardner (@KenGardner11) December 14, 2018
That little certainly deserved better. She deserved better than to be exploited by Democrats and the media for the sake of pushing a narrative.
This is a grossly misleading headline:
“agents took every possible step to save the child's life…The girl and her father were part of a large group of migrants who approached [agents] in a remote area…The child began having seizures hours after she was taken into custody.” https://t.co/zLuJC8fEqs

The 7 year old who died after hours in border control custody was starved & dehydrated by her FATHER for days. There is no indication that CBP didn't follow the regular procedure of supplying illegal immigrants food & water in the hours before her death. https://t.co/eMdGtWtYye
— Tiana Lowe (@TianaTheFirst) December 14, 2018
I've been highly critical of Trump using racial animus to color the immigration debate. It's disappointing to watch the media do the same. The fact is that this poor girl's father illegally dragged her through a desert, denied her food & water, & she died. https://t.co/eMdGtWtYye
— Tiana Lowe (@TianaTheFirst) December 14, 2018
As Tiana Lowe writes:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection take in a group of illegal immigrants wandering through the New Mexico desert into custody, and a 7-year-old girl whose father hadn’t given her food or water for days, begins to have seizures just eight hours after being detained, goes into cardiac arrest, and ultimately dies of dehydration and septic shock.
Do you blame the CBP, which worked to get the Guatemalan girl into a helicopter and to a hospital after she began having seizures? Or do you blame the father who dragged his daughter through the desert for several days?
This is the Trump era, so you know exactly who the media is blaming.
…
The father dragging his daughter along through the desert for multiple days bears some blame here. At least it’s a relevant aspect of the story. Also, we don’t yet know what care, food, or water CBP provided while she was in custody. So you’d hope the press would wait until more details were available before assigning and implying blame here. But there’s a politically convenient story to tell here, so such balance or caution goes out the door.
Exactly. Facts should trump the narrative, but in this case, it’s the opposite.
America didn't do this Mr. Cummings.
The little girl's father did this to her. https://t.co/weOaxLucqG

Yeah, like not walking through a f*cking desert and being starved by her own father https://t.co/5UtjRK2UGi
— Max Q (@Randy_Shannon) December 14, 2018
Available facts indicate what caused the death didn’t happen in US custody, and nothing agents could’ve done —they did everything they could—could’ve saved her. You were wrong when you declared “Border is Safe.” The 373 migrants who died this year near our border refute you. https://t.co/tQZvrSeCDn
— Brandon Darby (@brandondarby) December 14, 2018
Dad takes daughter from Guatemala.
Walks with her through Mexico without food.
Crosses into New Mexico desert without water for days.
Border Patrol takes custody.
Hours later, BP helicopters her to hospital.
She dies.
So clearly, the ones to blame here are Republicans.
