ThinkProgress alumnus Judd Legum recently learned some appalling news, and he’d like to share it with the rest of the class:
The Daily Caller gets much of its funding through a grant from Charles Koch to the Daily Caller “Foundation” https://t.co/XtFnhEbmrd

We’ve gotta sit down.
Oh! The Horror!

So? So??? The Daily Caller gets funding from the Kochs? There aren’t enough pearls in the world to clutch right now.
The reach of KOCH BROS is the UGLY Reality of US Politics.
Too Much $$$$$$$ in Politics
END #Gerrymandering NOW
— Inconvenient Truth ??? (@InconvenientTr5) November 23, 2018
Effing gerrymandering! That’s how the Kochs are taking over the world.
Why does this not surprise me. There all in cahoots and support each other. It’s a symbiotic relationship.
— M. A. Ayala (@MAAyala53) November 22, 2018
Talk about a global conspiracy where White Nationalist billionaires control – wait for it – all right-wing media outlets.
— OneScaryBitch (@JunoWillEatYou) November 23, 2018
The Koch realized 35 yrs ago they had to influence the media to push their extremist views about education, Social Security and Medicare. So they created and gain control of many "think tanks" or propaganda mills. Teaming up with the Repugs.. their wildest dreams came true. pic.twitter.com/w8BG95xi9h

Never mind that that Kochs have been critical of Donald Trump on multiple issues. As the Left’s favorite billionaire bogeymen, they’re responsible for all the ills of the world. And that includes the existence of the Daily Caller.
This fvcking koch family is like the cancer of our society!

Jeez just die already ancient racists living in the wrong era somehow clinging to their hateful life with modern medicine
— Boa Jean Register ? (@Boaregister) November 23, 2018
I’m not at all surprised considering that the Koch’s brothers are also the culprits of inserting right-wingers all over Latin America. We need to keep an eye on those MFs. ?

Lock them up. Mercers too

Does Koch make stuff we can boycott?
— Jennifer Devon (@JenniferADevon) November 23, 2018
That depends … do you want to boycott stuff like cancer research? Because if so, the Kochs are super-guilty of funding that.
Is there some rule we’re not aware of that prohibits men like the Koch brothers from doling out their money as they see fit? As even the author of the Sludge hit piece notes, the Kochs have also given generously to libertarian outlets and pro-free market and free speech groups:
[Charles Koch Foundation] and [Charles Koch Institute] gave $84,000 total to the Student Free Press Association—a nonprofit also funded by and linked to the family of Education Sec. Betsy DeVos—which runs the conservative site The College Fix.
In contrast to some other Koch grantees, libertarian website and magazine Reason does offer critiques of Trump. CKF gave the Reason Foundation $268,000 in 2017, down from $745,000 the previous year, and CKI added $65,000 last year, representing one of the only decreases in funding for a media outlet the foundations supported in both 2016 and 2017, Sludge found. David Koch is a current trustee of the Reason Foundation.
CKF gave out a total of $88.3 million in donations last year, up from $80.2 million the previous year, fueling on-campus free-market centers, such as the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, and rightwing think tanks, such as the Heritage Foundation and the Manhattan Institute. The foundation says its 2018 grant total has already surpassed the 2017 amount. A request from comment from CKF was not immediately returned.
We don’t know about you guys, but we fail to see a problem. It’s almost as if Judd Legum and his fellow lefty trolls don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.
Comrade Legum shocked that not every media outlet can be like the Washington Post….
