Actor Gerard Butler was among the many people whose lives have been turned upside-down by the fires raging in California. Recently, he tweeted about his experience and urged his followers to support firefighters as well as others who have been affected by the devastating fires:
Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating. Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters. Thank you @LAFD. If you can, support these brave men and women at https://t.co/ei7c7F7cZx. pic.twitter.com/AcBcLtKmDU

1/2 Driving around Point Dume on Saturday. My heart aches for all those who lost their homes and their lives in California. I was one of the lucky ones, my home was only partially destroyed. A lot of people lost everything and will have to rebuild from scratch. (tweet continued) pic.twitter.com/cS4UTlRR00

2/2 I am ok and so grateful for all of the well wishes. Please turn your support to those who need it most here, and throughout California. There's a Go Fund Me to help people across the state affected by the fires. Please join me if you can. https://t.co/ghkHkoZqUw

Not everyone’s wishing Butler well, however. Because, you see, Butler has done something unforgivable: Earlier this month, he was part of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces fundraising gala. And now, he’s paying for it:

Sadly, there’s still plenty more where that came from:

The question is why did you raise 60 millions dollars money to the IDF that destroys Palestinian homes?!
— مصطفیٰ کمال بلتستانیؔ (@Awulpa) November 12, 2018
Sweet Jesus Gerard…you could almost be Palestinian now (without $60 million) Hail Hail!!
— Pádraig Murchadhfinn (@paidimerbhin) November 12, 2018
What you are experiencing here is everyday life for the people of Palestine. Maybe your friends in the IDF will return your fund-raising efforts.

After raising money for Israel #karma

Now turn your attention to the poor people of Palestine, that have to endure bombings and snipers day in and day out from Israeli forces!

The world is filled with money hungry actors like @GerardButler to support the IDF while killing innocent women & children in Palestine!

.@GerardButler I am sorry about your house, but now you must feel a little of what the Palestinian people are suffering that are being expelled from their territories and their houses destroyed by the Israeli Zionist army that you support. #Genocida #Palestine #PalestinaLibre pic.twitter.com/4ovHHjserB

Console yourself with the fact you have very good insurance and you're also a millionaire .not something that can be said for the Palestinian people that you helped turf out of their homes by supporting the I.d.f . Karma in action.
— Andrew (@realAndyhammer) November 12, 2018
Think about Palestine Iraq and Afghanistan You people burnt the houses of those poor people like this and devastated them ?Maybe you get some lesson from this thing and you realize something ?I am sorry to burn your house but you should definitely think about Palestine

@GerardButler I'm so glad you're OK. That looks like a war zone. Kind of like the literal WAR ZONE of Palestine that you are causing with YOUR support for the Israeli IDF. #WTF Gerard? I used to have respect for you. https://t.co/sSuaGTZCuYhttps://t.co/J3uQstTB0N

@GerardButler Wow, ur house is burning & u still have time to support an Apartheid regime and their military killing & maiming Children in Palestine. Shame on you!

This is nature's way of teaching u how one feels when a home is destroyed, lost or snatched.
And u raised money for IDF who do this to Palestinians every day.
Enjoy Rebuilding.
Hope u learnt something.— Bull's Eye (@iTsTaLaT) November 12, 2018
How happy I am with what has happened to you, how glad I am that you have lost your home. Maybe so you feel minimally what the Palestinian people have suffered. You who support an immoral, murderous and terrorist army like the Israeli. #FreePalestine
