As Twitchy told you yesterday, Kirsten Powers engaged in some impressive feats of intellectual acrobatics to downplay the awfulness of Samantha Bee’s remarks about Ivanka Trump.
Today, she doubled down:
Bee's show is called "Full Frontal" & she is punching up. Using strong language to address Ivanka trump should be what everyone is doing – Ivanka is putting a pretty veneer on her dad's ugly racist policies & she deserves no respect & no whitewashed, watered down language. +

I don't disagree that Ivanka deserves to be blasted, esp for her apparent obliviousness and lack of concern regarding what's happening on the border…I just think that can be done without using an gendered attack against her. https://t.co/05uzTQI0fQ

Let’s see where she’s going with this …
The attack distracts from whatever message Samantha Bee intended to convey. Now people are focusing on the disgusting language she used – and ignoring the message.

It's not just disgusting language…I don't care about comedians using vulgarity. It's a very gendered attack…even when used on men.
But I agree children being taken from their parents at the border is much worse than the use of that word. https://t.co/Smq3gIsqZC

Oh, come the eff on, Kirsten! First of all, children were “being taken from their parents at the border” before Trump took office. And second of all, Ivanka Trump has nothing to do with it. Bee attacked Ivanka for having the gall to post a sweet picture of her embracing her child. Immigration policies had nothing to do with it. Samantha Bee targeted Ivanka Trump for the “feckless c*nt” comment and incest joke for one reason and one reason only: hatred of Donald Trump. So spare us your sanctimony.
So NOW it’s OK to drop the C word on a woman for posting a selfie with her child. Hateful language is now justified.

Ivanka is NOT President. Even as daughter, she can't make (or make him change) policy, so to blast her (in a very gender nasty/vulgar way) is not fair and just an egregious attack b/c Bee could. Per policy itself, do you feel US should even have border laws to enforce? (or not?)
— Midwestern Views (@MidwestViews) June 1, 2018
Vulgarity is an issue and part of the problem. You claim to care about the policy-assume you want it changed- how do you engage any administration using this language. So much of the left, including pols wake up, post attacks on their website/ twitter and call it a day.

Bee wasn't doing comedy. She said it out of hate. She's a hate monger. The fact that you defend her makes you an arch-hypocrite.
But how dare Ivanka post of pic of her hugging her child, she's a monster. What has happened to your moral center?

My god you're a pathetic hypocrite https://t.co/9xgWHAtdLW
