As Twitchy told you, MSNBC’s Katy Tur briefly descended from her ivory tower to sneer at hardworking Americans looking forward to having an extra $1000 in their pockets.
One of Tur’s examples of a stupid hick who stupidly thinks a stupid extra $1000 is worth something was an Ohio woman looking forward to having extra money to put toward her son’s college tuition or a house:
Woman who just spoke says she's going to use her $1,000 bonus and tax cut to help buy a home and pay for her two kids who are going to college.
In Hamilton Co, Ohio (where they are) avg home is $277,582
Avg cost of private college nationally ~35,000
Public $19,000— Katy Tur (@KatyTurNBC) February 5, 2018
Aside from her completely wrong contention that $1000 can’t be used for a house payment, it looks like she also just plain doesn’t know what she’s talking about:
Also, apropos of nothing, but I’m from Ohio & know Hamilton Co pretty well — there’s no way the avg home is $277,582. @KatyTurNBC def checked a bunch of sites til she found the one with the highest figure, b/c Zillow (https://t.co/jks7hxWwcZ) lists the avg price at just $164,900. https://t.co/lZ65bSXlOe

According to Zillow, the median value of homes for sale in Hamilton County is $164,900. So, $1000 could actually go a pretty long way. Maybe if Katy had been able to get her nose out of the air long enough, she might’ve figured that out.
But who are we kidding? This is Katy Tur, after all.
She’s the worst. No professionalism. https://t.co/aSwSShimeH
