Yeah, RIGHT! Matt Damon 'knew' Weinstein 'was an a-hole' but had NO CLUE about the rest?

A couple of weeks ago, longtime Harvey Weinstein collaborator Matt Damon said that if he’d known about Weinstein’s sexual predation all these years, he “would have stopped it.”

Well, as it turns out, he kind of did know about it:

More from the New York Post:

Damon, who co-starred in the Weinstein-produced “The Talented Mr. Ripley” in 1999 with Paltrow, said he learned of her allegations through his friend Ben Affleck.

“I knew the story about Gwyneth from Ben because he was with her after Brad [Pitt], so I knew that story,” Damon said Monday on ABC News. “I never talked to Gwyneth about it, Ben told me. But I knew that they had come to whatever, you know, agreement or understanding that they had come to, she had handled it. She was, you know, the first lady of Miramax. And he treated her incredibly respectfully.”

“So people say, ‘everybody knew,’ like, yeah I knew,” Damon explained. “I knew he was an a–hole, he was proud of that. That’s how he carried himself. I knew he was a womanizer. I wouldn’t want to be married to the guy. But the criminal sexual predation is not something that I ever thought was going on. Absolutely not.”

So, if we’re understanding Damon correctly, he knew that Gwyneth Paltrow had allegedly been sexually harassed by proud “a-hole” Harvey Weinstein, but he never thought Weinstein was a sexual predator? What?

More:

Damon added that Weinstein “didn’t do it out in the open.”

“If he did … if there was ever an event or something that I was at in public with Harvey, and he was doing this kind of thing … I missed it.”

Damon added that if Weinstein ever harassed women at a public event, “and I somehow missed it, then I’m sorry.”

“I never saw it. I never saw that,” Damon said. “That darkness was his … he did that in private.”

Congratulations, Matt Damon. We weren’t sure it was possible for you to come out of this Weinstein thing looking even worse than you did before, but you made it happen.
