'Yay, feminism?' Congrats, Cosmo, on your 'hypocrites of the year award'!

Let’s hear it for Cosmo! The feminist crusaders know how important it is that women participate in the electoral process, so they’re doing their part to make it happen:

Woohoo, party bus!

Attention, students of North Carolina State University: The #CosmoVotes party bus is coming for you.

On Election Day, a bus decked out with snacks, swag, and models (hi, this is Cosmo) will roll up to North Carolina State University, the winner of Cosmopolitan.com‘s first-ever party bus contest. The bus will shuttle students back and forth to a nearby polling location so students can vote.

More from NC State’s student newspaper:

On Nov. 4, students in need of a ride to the polls will have the option take a party bus equipped with snacks, prizes and shirtless male models courtesy of Cosmopolitan magazine.

Although the shirtless male model aspect of the bus may tend to excite more females than males, it creates a fun, exciting voting atmosphere for students, [Camden Willeford, the associate director of publicity and communications for Student Government] said. Anything that gets more students to go out and vote is worth it.

“Everyone needs to vote,” freshman Olivia Jansen said. “I think it is a clever, effective and hilarious way to get people to the polls.”

C’mon, girls! It’s, like, your civic booty! (See what we did there?)

But you know what we really relish about this whole shirtless-voting thing? It’s the further exposure of Cosmo’s flaming hypocrisy.

Yep. Remember when the College Republican National Committee launched an ad campaign parodying “Say Yes to the Dress”? Cosmo called it “hands down the most condescending political ad you will ever see.”

But somehow, using shirtless dudes to lure young women to the polls is totally empowering and stuff.

Absolutely pathetic.

It’s sad, all right. But it’s not even remotely surprising.
