He’s pissed, all right. This morning, despite repeated warnings about dangerous winter storm conditions, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office decided to keep public schools open. But at least in the case of Al Roker’s daughter’s school, once students managed to get there, the mayor called for early dismissal, putting students and parents alike in an even crappier position.
De Blasio may have thought that, as mayor, he can do whatever the hell he wants. But he didn’t plan for Roker. After the mayor attempted to blame bad weather reports for his office’s bungle, Roker proceeded to open up a massive can of whoop-ass:
@NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools Maybe the Mayor and School's Chancellor should let us know when they would actually close schools?
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
@NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools snow policy is ridiculous. Tell people to stay off the roads. Stay home. But send your kids/teachers/staff in?
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
Why are schools all around NYC closed? It's going to take some kid or kids getting hurt before this goofball policy gets changed
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
@badback1039 Fred. 10" in strong winds are not a little storm
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
So now my daughter's NYC public school is being let out early. @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools Is it worth putting kids' safety at risk?
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
And how about all the parents and caregivers who have to scramble to get their kids home? Is there no one there with any common sense?
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
@NYCSchools Chancellor says Macy*s is open, schools should be open. They're also open on Thanksgiving, nights and Sundays. Are you kidding?
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
I knew this am @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools would close schools. Talk about a bad prediction. Long range DiBlasio forecast: 1 term
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
Ooo … that’s gonna leave a mark!
@NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools Please, so we understand, make known weather-related school closing policy. Of course, assuming you have one.
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
Day-um!
@angeliquemiles @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools But now what will this patents do now that their kids are being sent BACK home.
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
@BillseBlasio Gov. Cuomo declaring state of emergency for the Mid-Hudson, New York City, and L.I. as a Nor'Easter storm continues affect NY
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
@alroker @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools NYC board of Ed or NYC board of Catering ? Hot meals don't work if no one is there to prepare them
— Mike McCabe (@caber10) February 13, 2014
@NYCMayorsOffice says snow was faster/heavier than expected. No, Mr. Mayor. It came as predicted. Don't blame weather for YOUR poor policy
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
@NYCMayorsOffice We @TODAYshow are happy to provide forecasts, even though NWS does terrific job. We see it as a public service
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
How dare @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools throw NWS under the school bus. Forecast was on time and on the money
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
Good for Roker.

If you play with fire, Mr. Mayor, you’re gonna get burned.
Even Al Roker blasting the mayor…shit is really real
— Q (@JustQBreezy) February 13, 2014
Impressed to see Al Roker taking Bill de Blasio & Co. to task for keeping NYC schools open & then doing early closure. What a mess.
— Helder Gil (@hgil) February 13, 2014
Al Roker going in on DeBlasio. Good.

I like @AlRoker a lot more when he's bitching at unprepared government officials.

Mad respect. Especially after this:
Here we go! @BilldeBlasio to @alroker courtesy @sallygold "It's a different thing to run the city than to give the weather on TV."
— Shimon Prokupecz (@ShimonPro) February 13, 2014
Mr. Mayor, I could never run NYC, but I know when it's time to keep kids home from school
— Al Roker (@alroker) February 13, 2014
Bam! You done been schooled, Mr. Mayor.
@alroker I'd vote for you in the next Mayoral election. You have WAY more of a clue than this clod.
