Cowardice: US Embassy Cairo memory-holes tweet that angered Egyptian government

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo has a history of using its Twitter account to prop up the Islamofascist Morsi regime. But, as Twitchy reported, the embassy found itself in hot water yesterday with the Egyptian government after tweeting out a link to a video defending anti-Muslim-Brotherhood comic Bassem Youssef.

Coincidentally — if by “coincidental” you mean “not at all coincidental” — the embassy subsequently deleted its Twitter account:

According to a report at Foreign Policy, the request to delete the account was made by U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson.

The account is now back up and running, but something is conspicuously absent from its feed. That tweet about the Jon Stewart video that so offended the Egyptian government? Gone:

that page doesn't exist

Now, as we mentioned yesterday, YouTube had taken down the video due to copyright claim violation. But we’re gonna go out on a limb and suggest that that’s not why the embassy sent its tweet off into the ether.

Here’s a plausible theory:

Sounds about right.
