For a long time, Republicans were expected to be the adults in the room. It's true. And if I'm being honest, I was pretty content with the idea that we were always the mature ones, the grown-ups, the people who truly put country above everything else. That worked for us for a while, if you look back as far as even Eisenhower, this idea that when we need adults in charge, Republicans step up. Democrats have always been the children. The whiny babies who want to spend more while continuing to own people via government dependence. Oh, and nobody loves to start a war more than a Democrat.
And this worked for us until it didn't.
This worked until Mitt Romney got on stage with Barack Obama to debate in good faith, and Obama acted like a complete jackhole. Remember when he mocked Mitt for knowing Russia was a problem?
Yeah, Obama sucked.
And he still sucks.

But this anti-Trump guy is super hung up on how things were better back then.
This was barely a decade ago.

2 competent, fully coherent, men in their 50s/60s disagreeing at the margins about ways to make our society a little more productive. Nothing but respect for one another.
We’ve completely spiraled out of control politically since then. pic.twitter.com/11dI9wlcCH
Not even close, bud.
