Margaret Thatcher said something that has resonated with me for a long time. Ok, so she said a lot that resonated with me, but this seems very relevant to what we're looking at with Nikki Haley and her bizarre campaign. Thatcher said, 'Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't.'
Makes sense, yes? If you're powerful people know it. You don't have to tell them, just like if you're a lady, they know it. For some reason, Haley can't quite seem to figure this out and spends a lot of time playing the 'I am woman hear me roar' card which is honestly boring, old, and even insulting to many women on the Right. One of the biggest differences between women on the Left and Right (besides the fact we shave our legs and realize having more than three cats is a problem) is that we don't rely on our private parts to make a statement.
There is much more to a woman on the Right than a uterus. But for some reason, Haley hasn't gotten this memo and keeps right on making mistake after mistake with her campaign. Take this, for example. Does she really think she will score points with us because she likes Joan Jett for being a 'total badass'?
I cringed reading this.
@Jaketapper asked me why I love Joan Jett. Let me tell you: Joan Jett was one of the first true rockers, and the industry didn’t like how she looked or how she dressed. But she never gave up. She was a total badass. That’s a great lesson for everyone. 🔥🎸

Blah blah blah. I get it. She's trying to passive-aggressively compare herself to Joan with the whole, 'she never gave up, she was a total badass' bit but it's pretty clear Joan would want nothing to do with Nikki.

You don't know anything about Joan Jett, do you?

Don't bother answering. It shows.
From one of our brilliant freelancers, @shoveitjack:
Joan Jett and The Blackhearts second album reached #2 on the Billboard US charts and its title single, I Love Rock and Roll, shot up to number one in the US and remains in the top 100 Billboard tracks of all time. The Blackhearts toured with bands including The Police, Queen, and Aerosmith when they were starting out.
The band had a series of hit singles and Jett was embraced by Hollywood. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Jett herself is fairly commonly referred to as the Queen of Rock and Roll.
Industry liked her.
Duh.
Are you 15 years old?

Enough with Girl Power pandering.
Grow up. https://t.co/AehH8wCwDu
Seriously. It's not impressing any of us, least of all women on the Right.
Talk more policy, less girl power, Nikki.
That's badass, not heels and reminding us over and over again you have a vagina.
