Now that Twitter is X ... does that mean we need a new name? Xitchy? Twixxy? XTwitchy? Thoughts?

Meme/Twitchy

Even before I joined this merry band of mouthy peeps, Twitchy was Twitchy because Twitchy covered Twitter. Clever, yes? Michelle Malkin came up with what I still think is a great idea - a way to cover news that's happening quickly as well as politicians, Hollywood types, woke weirdos, and everyone and everything in between in a snarky, even fun way. Trust me, there are some days where I question how 'fun' the things we're covering are BUT ultimately, people need to be able to laugh when they read some of this nonsense and we do our best to make that possible. News and politics both are far too serious ...

We get enough serious everywhere else, yes?

So Twitchy is a different beast and unlike our sister sites (who are beasts in their own right), much of what we cover is Twitter-based. SO what does that mean for us now that Twitter is X? Thanks Elon Musk, for making this complicated.

Kidding.

Sort of.

I started thinking about different names for our site, even though ultimately I doubt we'll change since we've been Twitchy FOREVER. How do we bring the X brand into our brand? And you know what? Everything I come up with sounds ... wrong.

I don't want to say it but it sounds dirty even.

Again, thanks for that, Elon.

For example - XTwitchy? Sounds like we just broke up with somebody OR we're making movies that are not very ... conservative. Ahem.

Xitchy. Nah ... that sounds like some sort of cream you might buy for hemorrhoids and it's just not catchy.

Twixxy. Now, this isn't bad although one might think we've based this on a famous, delicious candy bar. Eh.

See? This is very difficult! I know I know, boo hoo, first-world problems ... but it's odd. I've struggled even writing about Twitter in general because it just doesn't feel right to say 'X'. And I'm sorry but 'post' instead of 'tweet' just ticks me off and I MISS MY BIRDIE.

Maybe we should just stick with Twitchy as a reminder of what was our little Tweety Bird. Unless, of course, dear VIP readers, you have some really good ideas you'd like to send along. I'm not saying we'll ever change our name but it doesn't hurt to listen to what you guys think. Thoughts? Let me know either in the comments, on Twitter @politibunny, or shoot me a note at [email protected].

Happy Friday, and as always, thank you for being here with us!
