Sorry, but the political parties never switched places and Lefties have never really changed their stripes. I know, our pals on the Left and in the Democratic Party have been trying for YEARS (decades?) to disown their party’s own actions by pretending there was this magical switch in the South when Republicans suddenly woke up one day and decided to turn into racists while the racist Democrats suddenly woke up and magically decided not to be racists anymore.
I know it sounds really stupid when you read it like that but that’s the basis of their entire argument. Instead of saying, ‘You know what, our party was wrong, our actions were wrong, we learned from them,’ they say, ‘NU UH, THE PARTIES SWITCHED AND IF YOU DON’T BUY THAT YOU’RE A RACIST. REEEEE!’
Yeah, there was no switch. Not even close.
For example, Chris Hayes used a fairly racist trope to attack Tim Scott for his pro-life stance.
"Tim Scott's answers were like the rhetorical equivalent of watching someone who is not very good at swimming—like a kid who’s just learned—desperately flail about in a pool looking for something to hold on to so they don't drown," says @chrislhayes on Scott talking abortion. pic.twitter.com/qYfNhrTXT8

Can you guys IMAGINE the fit the media would have thrown if someone on Fox made this same analogy when discussing Obama? We’d hear nothing but, ‘OMG THEY’RE SO RACIST’ for days (weeks) on end. But since Hayes said it there are a bunch of Lefties on this thread agreeing with him.
Mocking Scott.
Accusing him of hating women … none of them bright enough to realize what Hayes said was really screwed up and racist.
if you’re going to do a “can’t swim” analogy about a black politician, make sure it’s a clear and necessary one. Nothing illuminating about this analogy that couldn’t have been accomplished with the word “flailing.”

Even some of his supporters called him out:
took me a minute to get through this segment for reasons. Here is a perception of allyship but there was a huge participation in stereotypical tropes and antiblackness.
There is no way any of us should support Scott in this run politically, but you can't do it like this. https://t.co/pcZHyowKZk

So she doesn’t like Scott BUT she recognized what Hayes did here is wrong and … racist.
Yup.
Chris Hayes says blacks can't swim. Racist. Owes Tim Scott an apology. https://t.co/DRQ5ba9ukS

He absolutely does.
But I’m not holding my breath.
