In 2021 I got to watch Glenn Youngkin beat all the odds and flip a very very very blue Virginia, red. SUPER red. We took everything BUT the Senate because Virginians of all political persuasions were sick and tired of what Democrats, particularly Ralph Northam, had done to our state. We were one of the first to shut down our schools, one of the first to mask up our kids, one of the last to let the masks go (only after Youngkin made it happen) … Democrats took our churches, our schools, and our everyday lives from us while allowing Black Lives Matters thugs to run rampant and destroy our cities. Even now, Richmond has not fully recovered and many of the areas that were destroyed still lay in ruin.
So people complaining about Youngkin going on CNN, they don’t really get Youngkin and they can’t possibly understand what he was doing. Hey, I get it, CNN is a dumpster fire of awful and Jake Tapper is the king of that dumpster fire, and going in was probably not the best thing for Youngkin to do HOWEVER, I’m not at all surprised he did it. He’s never been one to walk away from a fight. And considering how badly they tried to set him up (and they did, Tapper is gonna Tapper), he still came out of it with his head held high and he can say he went into the lion’s den.
Even if he just took out one lion.

That Tapper and CNN were willing to do this tells us all how desperate and afraid of Glenn Youngkin they really are. Is he ready to be president? I can’t say but I can tell you that this guy convinced Conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, Moderates, and even some Democrats to vote for him over Terry McAuliffe. For years many of us in Virginia were told, ‘Virginia is blue, either accept it or get out,’ and Youngkin reminded us that this is not the case.
I think that’s probably one of the reasons Youngkin went on CNN because he knows he didn’t win with just Republicans and his governorship is not at all that simple. Without understanding what it’s like to be in Virginia, or to be the governor of a state like Virginia, it’s pretty easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize him.
Meanwhile, those of us who really matter to Youngkin for the time being, we get it.
And I don’t even apologize for saying so.
