Whoever wrote the piece for Mother Jones on the hurricanes ‘along the equator’ might want (need) to go back to school.
Just sayin’.
Not judgin’.
Ok, that’s not true, we’re judging a little bit. Heh.
The World Has Never Seen Anything Like What’s Happening at the Equator Right Now https://t.co/hwwWvdTB2Y pic.twitter.com/yLLUnkhnnq

Never seen anything like what’s happening at the equator.
Hrm.
From Mother Jones:
The map looks terrifyingly unfamiliar. Not because of the outlines of the continents; those are comforting in their hooks, tails, splotches, and whorls. It’s the storms. Across the globe’s tropics right now, seven superstorms are swirling over oceans. Hurricane Florence is butting into the Carolinas on North America’s southeastern coast. Tropical storms Helene, Isaac, and Joyce are hovering over the Atlantic like jets stacked on approach to Charlotte. Tropical cyclone Barijat is breaking up as it makes landfall at the Gulf of Tonkin while the Philippines and the rest of southeast Asia girds itself for Super Typhoon Mangkhut.
TERRIFYING UNFAMILIAR.

EL OH EL.
We get what they’re trying to do here, they want to make this about CLIMATE CHANGE and how Trump is to blame for all of these hurricanes along the equator. OOOH SKEERY. But of course, there are two issues with this story.
First and foremost, the equator is way further south.
Maps. How do they work?

and only 1 of those things on the map is even in the tropics

And second, the premise of the story isn’t true.
Lemme introduce you to the 2004 Hurricane Season:
Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne
All were in the Atlantic at the same time. Your weather history doesn’t go back 14 years, huh? pic.twitter.com/2lU2vfdJtr

Huh.
Anybody that lived through hurrican season 2004 will never forget it.
In addition to 4 hurricanes I was hit with a powerful microburst on June 26th 2004 that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to my home. I actually lost 2 new vehicles that year to the storms— Big Ed #WalkAway (@Falconeddie1) September 17, 2018
There were major hurricanes before Trump was elected president?
Whoda thunk it?
