Here at Twitchy, we rarely write in the first person because we don’t like to make the stories about ourselves and instead focus on what everyone else is saying. But every once in awhile we drop into first person because the story we’re writing calls for that voice …
Like this one does.
Mo is my friend, a lovely, bright, and incredibly passionate woman who is such an amazing friend and mother in her own right. She is well-known on Twitter in Conservative and Libertarian circles and has often been highlighted on Twitchy. But this time I’m writing about her not because she blasted some poor slob who decided to say something stupid about the Constitution, but because she wrote an incredibly moving thread about her mom.
Tissues.
My mom was a mathemetician working for the phone company in computer science when Roe v. Wade was decided. At the time, she had 4 small children, one of whom had just been diagnosed with epilepsy.

Feeling the injustice of abortion, she started working for the pro-life movement, eventually becoming the executive director of a powerful pro- life group that notched significant legal and political victories, in addition to passing legislation.

I love this.
She never championed herself as a groundbreaking feminist, despite having worked in a male-dominated field before her pro-life work.

Because unlike feminists, Mo’s mom knew it was not about her, but about something bigger than her.
Nor would any modern feminist, because her pro-life work is anathema to them. I grew up watching her and learning from her about how to be a strong, hardworking woman who never gave an inch on her principles.

She taught me to care for and help the less fortunate. She ran a food program, feeding homeless people dinner once a week. She took in abused mothers and helped them and their children find their place of independence.

See why I love this?
She is the best mother a person could ask for and I'm proud and lucky to be her daughter. Happy Mother's Day to her and all amazing moms like her.

Mo is so much like her amazing mother, and I hope she realizes how much this thread means to other moms and daughters out there who happened upon her lovely thread today.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mo.
