After 20 NHL seasons, all with the Detroit Red Wings, defender Niklas Lidstrom announced his retirement.
In his career he won four Stanley Cups. If he had played only one more season, his NHL career would’ve been legally old enough to drink alcohol from those trophies.
This really is an impressive feat. What have you done for 20-straight years? Watching Lidstrom play from your couch does not count.
He did it all with one team, too. Jennifer Lopez is the same age as Lidstrom and her next husband will be her fourth and she hasn’t been married for even 10 years combined.
@NHL just issued an announcement, new way to spell "Hall of Fame" is "L-I-D-S-T-R-O-M" #nodoubt @DetroitRedWings

During two decades of excellence in DET, great players and coaches have come and gone. There has been one constant: Nicklas Lidstrom

Is there a classier athlete than Niklas #Lidstrom ? I doubt it. He even thanked the waterboy in his retirement speach.
