'Avengers' smashes box-office records, Samuel L. Jackson celebrates with fans on Twitter

If you weren’t running around this weekend, bellowing “HULK SMASH” along the streets, or shrieking “AVENGERS ASSEMBLE” and waking up your impatient roommates (for the sixth time), well, then you were in the minority.

Joss Whedon’s Avengers obliterated the opening weekend box-office record, formerly held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and before that, The Dark Knight. Samuel L.
