Emmy viewers angered by CBS special tribute to Cory Monteith, but not Larry Hagman or Jack Klugman

Hollywood legend Larry Hagman of CBS’s “Dallas” and “I Dream of Jeannie” fame died last year after a valiant battle with cancer. Television veteran and equally legendary actor Jack Klugman also died last year. Many viewers were irked by the Emmy Awards show producers’ bizarre decision to feature a stand-alone special tribute to Fox “Glee” star Cory Montieth, but not Hagman (who turned CBS prime-time into a powerhouse) or Klugman.

Hagman, Klugman, and other veterans who died this year were treated as afterthoughts.

Klugman’s son weighed in:

Adam Klugman is fuming over his father’s exclusion from an expanded special tribute at this weekend’s Primetime Emmys that includes Cory Monteith. “I think it’s criminal,” Klugman tells The Associated Press. “My dad was at the inception of television and helped build it in the early days.” Jack Klugman, a three-time Emmy winner and star of The Odd Couple and Quincy M.E., died in December. He, Larry Hagman and others who died in the past year will be part of a traditional In Memoriam remembrance during the awards ceremony, but not in a special tribute…
