The Royal Gorge Fire is one of four active wildfires blazing in Colorado. It has destroyed 3,800 acres and several structures. (As Twitchy told you earlier tonight, the Black Forest Fire is raging near Colorado Springs and 2,500 homes have been evacuated.)

The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park are among the state’s most scenic and historic landmarks. The bridge is the world’s highest suspension bridge. Reports earlier tonight raised fears that the bridge had burned.

But at a press briefing this evening with fire public information officer Greg Goodland, the official word was that it had been threatened, but may yet be “intact” — although the caveat “We don’t know” was also attached.
