UN official warns US: Don't elect Romney

That’s right. The United Nations warns Americans that they should not elect Mitt Romney. Breitbart news reports on some recent comments by U.N. Special Rapporteur on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights Ben Emmerson.

Speaking at a Toronto symposium on the impact of 9/11 on human rights, Emmerson said:

“The re-introduction of torture under a Romney administration would significantly increase the threat levels to (Americans) at home and abroad,” Emmerson said.

“Such a policy, if adopted, would expose the American people to risks the Obama administration is not currently exposing them to.”

If Emmerson was hoping to dissuade Americans from voting for Romney, he’ll be disappointed with the initial reaction. It seems that most Americans don’t really like the United Nations telling them what to do:

The Canadian Press says that Emmerson “planned to raise his concerns in an address to the UN General Assembly later this month.”

Can the Obama Administration — and particularly U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice — be counted on to tell Emmerson and the U.N. that they should not attempt to influence elections in the United States?
