The media’s use of ‘Republicans pounce’ is so overused that it has become a joke among conservatives. You almost expect it any time a story breaks that might be of interest to the GOP.
Apparently, the folks at the Hill have figured out how tired and overused the whole ‘pounce’ thing is, so they’re trying out something new.
Take a look below:
Republicans jump on "lab leak" report, call for action against China https://t.co/r85FRW8LzY pic.twitter.com/aSK5DpBNmv

Out: pounce
In: jump
People noticed the change.
I prefer pouncing, but that’s just me.

Jumping?? Clearly we’re pouncers!

You obviously are new here, the correct vernacular is "seized" or my personal favorite "Pounced"

How dare Republicans notice a major develpment in something that has affected the entire world for three years.

So the most consequential event in recent history was just explained, a massive news narrative busted, and @thehill is over here with a thesaurus to find another way to say 'Republicans pounce'?
Modern news media is deeply broken. https://t.co/OfGu6XMHQk

Pounced is old hat

Aren’t there other words that can be used?

They just can’t help themselves.
Seriously?! Can you not write an article and headline about this without “Republicans Pounce!” being part of it?
Pathetic, partisan hacks.
Find another line of work. Journalism is too hard for you.

This is also an excellent point.
Why do you have “lab leak” in quotes? https://t.co/x1sIoHm5cE

Have you noticed the little game the media plays here?
The story is not the story. The Republican reaction is the story.
— John J (@JohnJtheSane) February 27, 2023
Any time there is narrative damaging news the story becomes the republicans response.

Every. Single. Time.
Today's journalism is so tiring.

It sure is.
