Yes, he did.
Going up to Gettysburg tomorrow to see if Civil War veterans are storming the battlefield
— Ben Jacobs (@Bencjacobs) October 2, 2013
Ben Jacobs of Newsweek and The Daily Beast took to Twitter to expose his douchebaggery. As Twitchy reported, Honor Flight World War II veterans knocked down the government shutdown barricades on the National Mall in order to visit the memorial to veterans. The vets have reportedly been threatened with arrest now.
What. The. Fuck. MT @stephenfhayes Nat'l Park Service tells Vets they'll be arrested if they visit WWII Memorial http://t.co/j6SMNdgf9M

Are they insane? RT @stephenfhayes: Natl Park Service tells #HonorFlight Vets they'll be arrested if they visit #WWIIMemorial.
— (((AG))) (@AGHamilton29) October 2, 2013
Of course, the National Park Service was so strapped for funds it had to send all workers home. Except the memorial barrier putter-uppers.

Obama Just Cares About Safety You Guys. That's why he's ordering the cops to arrest 80 year old men tomorrow and chance a cardiac event.

To “real journalist” Ben Jacobs, this was an opportunity to mock both veterans and those who are rightly outraged by the ludicrous government barricades.
Wow. Daily Beast reporter –> RT “@Bencjacobs: Going up to Gettysburg tomorrow to see if Civil War veterans are storming the battlefield

Jacobs wasn’t alone. The foul Jonathan Chait was the first to jump aboard the douche-train. He then mocked “faux outrage.”

Yes. Fake outrage. The real victim is you. MT @jonathanchait but conservative fake-outrage-ists seem more taken with violent fantasies.
— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) October 2, 2013
Poor persecuted Chait!
Fellow New York Mag-er Stefan Becket upped the jackassery both in reply to Chait and Jacobs.
— Stefan Becket (@becket) October 2, 2013
@Bencjacobs McCain's busy
— Stefan Becket (@becket) October 2, 2013
Pathetic.
Twitter users rightly gave them the business.
@Bencjacobs Yeah, that whole honoring-the-war-dead is so like, 1953.
— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) October 2, 2013
When they accuse you of "faux outrage" over barricading the WWII memorial, please note they're using French. #VichyMedia

Why are "Journalists" like @jonathanchait and @Bencjacobs attacking America's Warriors? #TryPuttingOnAUniform #UnPatriotic

@Bencjacobs Watch out for the ghosts of Gettysburg…I hear they like scaring the panties off sissies who badmouth vets. Bring an extra pair

Ha! Well, he does “work” for The Daily Beast, so he’ll probably get a promotion. Plus, he may be too busy for such polishing.
Expect to see big man @Bencjacobs at #WWIIMemorial tomorrow throwing sticks through veteran wheelchair spokes because he's so tough.

Zing!
And Iowahawk brings it all home with some snark perspective:
Out-of-work DC bureaucrats are the greatest atrocity since the holocaust. Also, your anger over WWII memorial is "faux outrage." #media
