Distract! Distract like the wind! That was the point of Obama’s speech today.

SQUIRREL! Look over there – oooooh shiny! “@allahpundit: What is the point of this speech?”
— dubs (@mrbigdubya) May 23, 2013
Beat me to it. Well-played, sir. RT @gabrielmalor: SQUIRREL! RT @allahpundit: What is the point of this speech?
— John Hayward (@Doc_0) May 23, 2013
Did the Squirrel Speech deliver? Well, it delivered some hilarious mockery: The big take-away to Twitter users was “tolly me banana.” Plus, there was the added comedy gold of a Code Pink heckler.
But did it deliver on its goal of distracting from the multiple Obama administration scandals? Heck no, says Hot Air’s Allahpundit.
How can the speech be designed to “distract” from scandal when there’s nothing new in it? What’s the “distraction”?
— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) May 23, 2013
This speech will be forgotten in three hours. Distraction over.
— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) May 23, 2013
@kirstenpowers10 It’s a pointless speech. There’s nothing new here at all, and most people already support the drone policy

Distraction fails utterly to distract

Fascinating speech — and not just for the way the deft way President handled the heckler. Will be debated for a long time.

“Long time” = rest of the afternoon, maybe https://t.co/h3tpUOcVa6
— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) May 23, 2013
Heh.
Obama does realize that his drone strategy is one of his few policies that already enjoys bipartisan support, right?
— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) May 23, 2013
But, Squirrel!
Other Twitter users agree with Allahpundit.

The blah blah blah speech just given will not distract us from IRS scandal, Press intimidation and BENGHAZI. @BarrackObama
— Gina Hartsell (@LotofLabs) May 23, 2013
If this Obama speech on national security is the shiny object to distract us from #Benghazi, #IRS, etc., etc., etc., it won't work. #tcot

Long, rambling speech- didn't even rate "Look, Squirrel!" Now- back to your regularly scheduled scandals.
