Rut roh! Even his own wife couldn’t be bothered reading his book. Michelle Obama made a whoopsie last night on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. She offered a tale about how super awesome Barack left behind that whole Choom Gang business when he transferred to Columbia University after his father died. She claimed his father’s death spurred him into such action because oh-so-wise Barack Obama can learn from things that will happen in the future. He is just that awesome.
Because, you see, his father actually died after he transferred. Which Michelle would have known had she, you know, read his book. Or talked to her husband.

@BuzzFeedAndrew It's really all just a composite biography. C'mon man, you should know that.

The First Lady credited his parents with getting her future husband back on course.
“He had a mother that was saying ‘you’re so gifted, you’re so talented,’ and would slap him on the head (and say) ‘get yourself together,” she said.
But it wasn’t until his father died, she told Stewart, that he truly grew up.
“That was one of those click-in moments,” she said. “And he really buckled down, he transferred schools, went to Columbia and thought about how to use life to the fullest.”
And that’s all well and good. Sometimes terrible things, like a father you never really got to know passing away, can spur people on to great change. Except that in this case, according to Barack Obama, he was already at Columbia when he got the call that his father died. He actually detailed it in his book…
…If you, unlike the First Lady, are curious about Barack Obama’s history, you can read the whole book Dreams of My Father on Google Books. Barack Obama transferred to Columbia sometime in 1981. His father died in 1982, a whole year after Barack began his studies.

Huh. How about that? Even Michelle won’t vet the president.
I totally warned Michelle Obama not to do her Daily Show prep with that gal from Acton & Dystel http://t.co/4cZC85xm

Dreams From My Father is epic confirmation of Kinsley thesis that no one reads bestsellers. Not even Michelle read it. http://t.co/buSAy5KV

Of course, that doesn’t stop some in the media from reporting it as if it is true.
