Defund List Starts Here: Police Departments Who Bailed on Protecting Trump's Big Day

I do my best to not wander into unverified conspiracies. I take seriously the privilege and blessing of having this platform at Twitchy to share the news with our dear readers and offer my snarky commentary. We told you earlier about President Trump's second inauguration being moved inside. The weather is going to be extreme, so it made sense. Tonight, I started reading this thread by one of the Castro Wonder Twins.

Castro goes into this long drawn out thread apologizing to constituents that had tickets. Apparently, he believes the Inauguration committee should refund money. It's all very silly. Then, I came upon a comment to his tweet that caught my eye.

Well, that didn't seem right to me. How could a police department refuse to help with such an important occasion? Why would they even be permitted to sit this one out. Someone has tried to off Trump TWICE. All of the police departments need to help. So, I started reading.

More than half a dozen local D.C.-area police departments will not be assisting Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) with security for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration, the Daily Caller has learned. The MPD has been lambasted by both progressives and conservatives for its methods of policing, and the department refused to answer several questions from the Caller.

The decision by these departments could leave MPD with hundreds fewer officers than they would typically be able to rely on for an event of this magnitude.

Did you get that? Hundreds of officers would not be participating. What?! It gets worse.

While MPD claimed thousands of officers will assist with security, several local departments told the Caller they will not be helping. Most were vague with their reasons for skipping this year’s inauguration, but one department confirmed in an email that it was because of a dispute over a memorandum of understanding (MOU), or agreement between departments, with MPD.

So, a couple of departments couldn't agree on some memo, so they aren't helping. This is the United States of America. Everyone should agree easily on participating in this event. There's more.

Howard and Queen Anne’s County police departments, also from Maryland, told the Caller they will not be assisting with inauguration security, although Howard PD said it provided security in 2017. Queen Anne’s told the Caller that it would not be assisting in 2025 due to “technical difficulties.” Frederick County Sheriff’s Department will also not be assisting due to staffing reasons.

Others have technical difficulties and 'staffing' issues. This is just unbelievable.

Only two departments of the nine who responded to the Caller stated they would be coordinating with MPD for the inauguration. Frederick City in Maryland plans to send about 20 officers, and Loudoun County in Virginia will send around 30 deputies, according to spokespeople for the departments.

2 of 9.

On Monday, US Secret Service (USSS) Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Office, Matt McCool, said that this year’s inauguration will be a “higher-threat environment.”

If this is a higher threat environment perhaps all the police should be there.

One would think all Americans should be patriotic enough to defend any duly elected President, These police departments should be ashamed.

Clearly some DC area departments have real leadership problems. It's not surprising as they are such Leftist strongholds. They are embarrassing the citizens who pay their salaries with their stance.
