This story is wild. It is no secret Americans are a bit concerned about the possibilities of 'Artificial Intelligence' and fear we may be pushing it too far. For example, is there even a need for writers when 'ChatGPT' can write an essay in seconds? These are all questions scientists and consumers have to answer as they continue to improve AI. It seems Open AI CEO, Sam Altman, was particularly interested in easing the American public into the various uses of his product. He decided one way to do that would be to hire a recognizable and beloved actress to voice his product. That actress was Scarlett Johansson. She considered the offer and ultimately declined. Then the product was released and it sounded very similar to her anyway. She was shocked.

Scarlett Johansson has just issued this statement on OpenAI.
I have confirmed its authenticity directly with her publicist.
"Last September, I received an offer from Sam Altman, who wanted to hire me to voice the current ChatGPT 4.0 system. He told me that he felt that…
What an unbelievably creepy thing to do. https://t.co/XpscaIzKuv

No means no, Mr. Altman.
Sam Altman is not to be trusted. OpenAI (effectively owned by Microsoft) is not to be trusted.

Please update expectations accordingly. We need decentralized #ArtificialIntelligence $TAO @bittensor_ https://t.co/Apl9HLIhQw https://t.co/3PFqaEzg6f
American consumers should probably not trust anyone making a ton of money off these products. They do not have society's best interest at heart.
Holy sh*t— I can’t imagine how violating this feels

Scarlett Johansson says Sam Altman offered she voice his new ChatGPT 4.o system
She declined, but Sam Altman cloned her voice for his system anyways
Scarlett Johansson has now hired a legal team to fight the move. https://t.co/qCRDxlHydO
Sam Altman sucks. https://t.co/tHg7DBsrsw

This move was absolutely horrible.
This is wild and only the beginning… Good for Scarlett Johansson. Shame on them. This is not how you “bridge the gap” and create trust with AI development https://t.co/zzIppXqR0t

This is actually the opposite of garnering trust. This leads people to believe all the things they feared about AI. It would take advantage of people and take away our autonomy.
Don't assume people will be ethical. https://t.co/v6yML3EJ0w

With Deepfakes being an insanely troubling concern for frontier AI with social/economic/political consequences, it is absolutely absurd and concerning to see that @sama and the folks at @OpenAI did this. It’s entirely antithetical to how @satyanadella claims to run refreshed MSFT https://t.co/4ywNxmlgRp

Art without soul is not art, I am not saying this as a debate, I am saying it as a personal value I share with many ❤️✌️ https://t.co/IRmNnfQZft

Truth. One of the tools of her art is her voice and this seems so dehumanizing.
That Altman had no problem using an AI version of Johansson’s voice after she rejected his offer should tell you everything you need to know about how these “enlightened” tech bros actually work and think.

And this is how AI itself has been created. We shouldn’t accept it. https://t.co/519iMKLhb8
This incident definitely feels like a warning end users should heed.
