In Appreciation of Men ... Society Pushes Them Aside While They Carry the Load

This one tweet is a great encapsulation of one of the reasons we need men. They are the ones willing to do the hard work it takes to make a society run.

Don't get me wrong. I know some women do these jobs and do them well. My son is one of the men who does one of these hard jobs. He works with women firefighters and he is very complimentary of their skills and ability to do the job. I can say he doesn't always say that about some of the men. Most of the time, the women working in jobs mainly held by men have to work twice as hard to prove themselves because they are not as easily accepted. With all that being said, there is something about seeing my 6'3" 275-pound son with arms the size of your head coming in to help you. You know he can pick you right up. You know he can bust doors down to save your dog stuck inside a fire. Seeing a man like that when you are in crisis is reassuring. We need men.

Furthermore, men take the majority of the rough stuff society has to throw at them and they are offered little to no emotional and mental health support. My son sees the worst of the worst of society. He sees dead children after a car crash, a wife black and blue after a domestic violence incident, a dead husband who was just out working on his car and had a heart attack and the list goes on. Thankfully, he has religion and a church. What about those who don't and there are plenty of them?

Well said. There is nothing wrong with most women not choosing these jobs. We all have a role to play. The problem occurs when treat one sex as disposable.

All of this. It is quite easy to be a professional and accomplished woman while respecting the place of men in society and training your son to take his place when it is his time. That was always my mission. I have taught and written, mostly from home, so I could also keep my home, most of the time as a single Mom. I am thankful for my safety net of men who helped me guide my son. Number one was my Father. My son would not be what he is without him. I also had uncles, family friends, coaches, Pastors and cousins who played a significant role. I suggest any single Mom do the same if you have a son. In the end, it made all the difference. I raised a man I am proud of and who contributes to our community. We need Grandfathers, Fathers, Sons, Brothers and Uncles. We are blessed if we find good Husbands as well. Let's be grateful for the men in our lives and show them appreciation. Men like to be spoiled, too.
