Oof! Today was a big day, right? Obviously, there are some HUGE NFL games to decide who eventually play in the Super Bowl and that is exciting. For political watchers, the big news was Governor Ron DeSantis announcing he is dropping out of the race for President and heading back to Florida. In case you missed it, here are his parting words.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

There were some conciliatory replies by major conservative figures.
Excellent and classy closing message, but I wouldn't expect anything less by such fine people as @RonDeSantis and @CaseyDeSantis.

A sad day for America. I'm struck by the fear we made the same mistake the currently ascendant generation has consistently made time and time again,… https://t.co/2M6dKkHjbr
Class act. Thank you for building a strong, modern conservative record that we can use as a basis of measure. Onward to 2024 and beyond. #RDS2028 https://t.co/dyzu7ffmrZ

DeSantis is the best governor in America and more effective at advancing conservative policies than any Republican official alive today. Dropping out now and coalescing behind Trump against Haley and the Left (but I repeat myself) is the right move. No, he didn’t run a perfect… https://t.co/yHAfoAKSbS

Some pundits chose to go the short and sweet route.
There will be a million eulogies for the DeSantis campaign and almost all of them will be wrong and laced with bias.

Simple truth is you cannot fight the ocean. No candidate or campaign was going to defeat an indicted Trump. Period.
The public believes the justice system is being weaponized against Trump and a whole bunch of voters believe Trump should get another shot at The White House. They believe he is the guy to take on the 'Swamp' and they were unwilling to accept any other candidate.
Glad DeSantis is dropping out. About time.

He should now be asked to raise back the $120,000,000 that was wasted on his campaign the last year. We need it to win in November
Feeling bad for DeSantis but a lot of bad people, the most terrible, wanted him to win and their are in rage right now. Definitely mixed emotions for me.

Looks like the incompetent DeSantis online surrogates are blowing lines of coke and rage tweeting!

We’re here for the meltdown you inbred.
Victory is sweet. https://t.co/BNgev77lLd
Finally, there were the folks who are doing their level best to make sure the party stays deeply divided. Apparently, they believe this kind of rhetoric will convince DeSantis voters to join up with the Trump coalition. I have my doubts. Primaries are ugly and their feelings are hurt. Honestly, they should take their cues from Trump. His response to the DeSantis concession was measured and respectful. It struck the necessary tone to help DeSantis voters join his fold.

President Trump on receiving Ron DeSantis’ endorsement:

“Very honored to have his endorsement. I look forward to working together with him to beat Joe Biden, who is the worst and most corrupt president in the history of our country."https://t.co/4Z2fLV06eo
Trump announced he has retired the nickname 'DeSanctimonious' (thankfully, because I am tired of typing it for stories) and he is 'honored' to have the endorsement of Ron DeSantis. It was a breath of fresh air. Let's hope more Republicans with large platforms choose to follow his lead.

My friend Philip Reichert tweeted this and Trump surrogate Alex Bruesewitz retweeted it. It's a sign maybe reconcilliation is possible. May it be so.
